What is the simple way of payment - Cash or Credit Card?

When I think about living simple life, I cannot leave "Finance" part out of it.
And biggest dilemma I had for few years was, should I use Cash or Credit card when I want to live financially simple life.

Many of people I know believe that carrying just few credit card is the way of living simple,  financially.
You neither need thick wallet clogged with small bills nor have to carry around heavy and annoying coins. I don't blame people to think, just carrying around one simple credit card in small card wallet is the simpler way of living financially when you can easily swipe for pretty much everything - And now that we have Apple pay, (Yes, Hong Kong also started the service, and my friends and colleagues are so thrilled about it) it's now even more easier to live wallet free life.

Since I wasn't sure which way of payment was simpler, I tried both.
(To be honest, I went back and forth several times)
Whenever I was using cash, I saw my friends using simple credit card and thought, yes! using credit card is so much simpler than using cash. Why the hell am I trying to pay in cash and receiving coins as change when I can't even earn mileage? and I went the lifestyle of using credit card.
First few days (or weeks) of using credit card, I thought
' I cannot believe I tried to live off of cash when there is so much easier and simpler way of paying! I am never going back to cash!!"

But you know what?
Even though carrying credit cards were way more simple behavior then carrying cash, my mind felt very clogged with declutter. WHY?
Because I constantly had to think about next Credit card payment date, if I had enough balance for next payment.
More importantly, I felt like I was always in the haze of, am I spending to right amount for this month? Can I afford this? Do I have enough money left over to spend on this?
And let me tell you, if you thinking about these holding credit card, the answer is YES most of the time.

And always by the end of month, when the statement is issued, I felt horrible about myself.
Even thought it wasn't crazy number, I was not proud because I could not control myself.

If we think about simplifying your "mind", the payment you should go for is, without a doubt, CASH.

Currently, I am back to using cash and even though carrying cash is not so simple than carrying credit card, I no longer have to worry about, can I afford this? how much will I have as this month's final statement?.

I do use credit cards for big purchases (of course, mileage is not harmful if you use it wisely).
But then I put cash back right in, so that it is same as using Cash.

Hope you this helped you guys to decide on which way you want to pay when you want to live simple.

[Simple Life] Declutter - Mickey Mouse Socks

Declutter - Mickey Mouse Socks
It's a secret.. but I tend to go cutsey when it comes to socks. I guess it's my way of keeping my inner child-ness happy.
(I work in fashion industry, so I prefer wearing chic)

This was a present from my mom (yes, she knows that I like cute socks), but since it's been several month I've been wearing them, they kept coming off inside the sneakers - which is sooooo annoying, I'm sure many of you can agree with me.
But yesterday, she got me 5 pairs of socks, which are so much cuter!! 😍
(Again, I don't go to Elementary school)

So I am letting this one go.

Thank you for being so cute all this time and making me smile!

Bye!

[Simple Life] Declutter - Ralph Lauren Box

Declutter - Ralph Lauren Box
I don't know why, but I love fancy boxes.
Especially when they are from the brand I love ♪ like Ralph Lauren.
Whenever I put random stuff in the box, I always pet myself saying, I am so organized!
However, as many boxes I owned, I kept forgetting about the things I put in the boxes.
So I am letting them go one by one.

Bye!

[Simple Life] Declutter - Lamer case and Clio Eye Liner

Declutter - Lamer case and Clio Eye Liner
I was using Lamer case as my brush holder.
Maybe it's because its unbelievably high price, but it was so well made,
(yes, I am talking about box) I could use it as brush holder for about a year.

But after trying to live simpler life, the Logo, which looked so pretty previously,
just seemed too much and messy.
I am letting it go, together with used up Clio eye liner.

Bye!

[Simple Life] Declutter - Swimsuit bag

Declutter - Swimsuit bag
I had a chance not to work for a month before moving to Hong Kong.
Since I did not want to waste the time, I decided to go for swimming lesson for a month.

And first thing I did, was to go buy a swimsuit.
(in Korea, when you go to swimming lesson indoor, you need to wear one-pieced ones. no bikini..)
I found such a pretty one, and could not decide between black and navy. And sadly... you are right.
I bought both of them, under the excuse of colors getting faded due to strong chemical water
in indoor swimming pool.
I was like that before I pursued simple life.

And this is the water proof bag I sued to put my swimsuit for the lesson.
It did a great job of not dripping water in my other bag, so I used it very well.
But now that I don't go to swimming lessons anymore, I don't really use it anymore.
I kept thinking, I will use it when I go on holiday.
But, I did not 😩  Instead, I always went for prettier water proof bag.

So I'm letting it go.

Bye!

[Simple Life] Declutter - Portable Charger for iPhone 3 & 4

Portable Charger for iPhone3 & 4
Noticed a portable charger while re-arranging my drawer.
I always kept this thinking I will use it one day.
But the time passed by, and I only own iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
It looks like it's new, but is no use anymore in any way.
So I'm letting it go.

Bye!

[Simple Life] Declutter - Japanese coin patch

Japanese Coin Patch

I went traveling to Japan recently.
It was after I started to live simpler life, but you know.. it's Japan.
Everyone needs good shopping list, right?
One of them was this, PAS, Koreans call it.
It's a patch to put on your muscle pain area.
This one, which you can only get it in Japan, is shaped like coin.
So you can put multiple of them on where ever you are having muscle pain.
It was MUST-HAVE shopping item in Japan.
Everyone who has traveled to Japan was talking about it, how amazing it was,  and how they regret not buying enough of it.
So even when I was short on time, I dragged my friend to go to drug stores and find one.
When I came back, I was so excited to use it.
But why.. why does it feel like nothing??😞
After about 15 min. or so, felt the minty-ness and it getting hot.
Well, my friends told me that if you don't have that many muscle pain,
you won't be able to appreciate it.
Hold on, I thought I had a lot of muscle pain on my shoulder by working in front of computer.. Guess I was wrong?

So I brought it to my parents house, who would actually appreciate the use of it!

Bye!

[Simple Life] Declutter - Glass jar

Declutter - Glass jar
A glass jar, I was able to get with a big big bargain through company's sale period - total of two.
But, considering that I rarely cook, I've noticed that I do not use these kind of heavy glass jars often.
So in one jar, I put my tea (which i rarely drink as well) and in the other,
I put coins that I come across from start using cash.

I don't know why, but I always thought the coin jars I found in either Pinterest or Google image,
were so pretty.

However, I recently were informed that, if you want to change the coins in the bank of HK,
you usually have to pay extra for the service.
That is just stupid now, isn't it?
Anyhow, I decided that the best way to deal with coins is to just use it as often as possible.
So I tried to use up all the coins i gathered, and use Octopus card (same as Oyster card of England)
whenever I were to receive some coins.

Also, I heard that not all the coins that were produced comes back to market,
since people get annoyed of carrying coins and just put them in random place at home
(like I used to be). And so Governments spend more money to create coins.
So by using up all the coins I have, I am kind of helping the circulation of coins.

My mom saw the glass jar and said, it's quite hard to get these kind of glass jars and there are
a lot of ways for her to use it.
She will use after thoroughly cleaning it😊
(She is actually keeping her eye on the other jar as well.
I should drink my teas and give it to her as soon as possible!)

Bye!

Oh, my mom sent over a picture, saying that she is using it so well as a jar to put our puppy's food
I am so glad it's found its better use than when it was containing dirty coins.
